Breakside Brewery Releases Rainbows & Unicorns IPA

By | Mixology News

Rainbows & Unicorns IPA, featured image

This beer’s tropical, summery goodness ensures a magical ride

Breakside Brewery has announced the launch of Rainbows & Unicorns—the second in a series of four rotating IPAs in 2018. This session beer was originally created for the 2015 Oregon Brewers Fest and showcases two favorite hop varietals: Galaxy and Eldorado. Galaxy provides juicy notes that are reminiscent of peach and apricot, while Eldorado screams pineapple and lime zest.

Breakside backs these up with a healthy dose of Comet hops, a heritage hop varietal, overlooked for many years and now gaining popularity again due to its intense stone fruit and citrus character. Also included in the summery brew are Two Row, Maris Otter, Flaked Rice and Light Crystal malts. Rainbows & Unicorns has an ABV of 5.1% and 32 IBUs.

“Rainbows & Unicorns toes the line between ‘juicier’ and ‘sweeter’ style of IPA and the more classic West Coast hoppy pales. Our team loves it for its clean, pure hop flavors. This one would be great at a backyard barbeque, paired with grilled octopus, smoked spare ribs or any spicy summer favorite.”
– Ben Edmunds, Brewmaster, Breakside Brewery

Breakside brews this beer in small batches and it will be released in limited quantities from April through mid-July, 2018, staying ultra-fresh until it quickly disappears. Look for it on draft and in 22 ounce bottles.

Deadpool is the New Creative Director for Espolòn Tequila

Deadpool is the New Creative Director for Espolòn Tequila, featured image

Motor-Mouthed Superhero Takes Over Marketing for Popular Tequila to Celebrate Release of DEADPOOL 2.

Espolòn, one of the fastest growing tequilas in the United States, has a new Creative Director—none other than loquacious anti-hero Deadpool, who will assume the role of Creative Director for Culture ‘n Stuff leading up to the theatrical release of his highly anticipated movie, DEADPOOL 2, in theaters nationwide on May 18th, 2018.

The unique tequila brand with the Dia de Los Muertos (Day of the Dead) art on its label has teamed up with the leather-clad mercenary after he expressed “interest” in working with them. While Deadpool has absolutely zero experience in marketing anything other than himself, Espolòn feels he truly wants to develop cutting-edge consumer tactics that will help broaden the brand’s reach.

Deadpool is the New Creative Director for Espolòn Tequila

“I needed the money. Plus, there is absolutely no reason why that Canadian gobstopper is getting all the glory. I’m a legit superhero. He’s just some guy who’s famous thanks to those two girls and that pizza place.”
– Deadpool

Deadpool is the New Creative Director for Espolòn Tequila

Deadpool will bring his self-declared “creative genius” to a movie-themed ad campaign which he promised would be “all over the place … but in the good way.”  It is assumed he was referring to the breadth of the promotional campaign, which will include custom packaging, in-store displays, out-of-home, social media, and more.

Deadpool is the New Creative Director for Espolòn Tequila

“We completely understand that Deadpool has no discernable skills as a creative director, but we have taken brave, bold chances with Espolòn marketing in the past, so what have we got to lose? Nonetheless, Deadpool and his cinematic success have become a cultural phenomenon. Partnering with Deadpool is guaranteed to get attention for the brand in the most Espolòn way possible. Deadpool brings years of one-to-one consumer experience as a former private contractor for startup temp-to-hire security agency and libations provider, Sister Margaret’s. We look forward to his fresh perspective on our brand.”
– Christine Moll, Marketing Director, Tequilas and Rums for Campari America

Espolòn’s history as one of the Campari Group’s most creatively daring spirits has made the brand a top seller in the US, growing +57.1% in 2017. The first creative from Deadpool is anticipated to begin running in late April, 2018.

When asked to comment on his new role, the Merc with the Mouth responded, “The first check from Espolòn cleared, so I guess this is happening.”

Belvedere Bartężek Single Estate Rye, featured image

Belvedere Lake Bartężek Single Estate Rye Expression Awarded “Chairman’s Trophy” by 2018 Ultimate Spirits Challenge.

Belvedere Vodka, the world’s original luxury vodka, received the top honor at the 2018 Ultimate Spirits Challenge. The brand’s Lake Bartężek vodka, part of Belvedere’s new Single Estate Rye Series, was awarded the prestigious 2018 “Chairman’s Trophy.” Lake Bartezek vodka received a record score of 96, ranking it in the coveted “Extraordinary, Ultimate Recommendation” category.

Belvedere’s Lake Bartężek is part of the brand’s new Single Estate Rye Series innovation that also includes Smogóry Forest. The series represents an extraordinary exploration into the idea of terroir (soil, topography and climate) in vodka, making the claim that climate variation affects the taste yielded from the same superior Polish Dankowskie Diamond Rye used in each unique expression. The vodkas are crafted to capture the distinctive essence of their respective terroir.

The “Chairman’s Trophy” Belvedere’s Lake Bartężek Single Estate Rye Vodka received at the 2018 Ultimate Spirits Challenge—the world’s most prestigious and progressive global spirits and cocktail competition—is a significant achievement, given that it was the Challenge’s eighth consecutive year of record entries from more than 52 spirit-producing nations. It is a hard-won accolade that speaks to the product’s high quality and character.

“We are very proud to receive the highest honor awarded by the Ultimate Spirits Challenge. Our new single estate vodkas represent a very special innovation for Belvedere, the concept of terroir in vodka. With these products we are demonstrating that Polish rye, when treated differently, imparts robust and nuanced taste.”

American Freedom Distillery Launches Horse Soldier Signature Bourbon

By | Mixology News

Horse Soldier Signature Bourbon, bottle and mold on white, featured image

Historic Horse Soldier Bourbon® Now Bottled in Glass Pressed from a Mold Forged with Steel from the World Trade Center.

American Freedom Distillery, located in St. Petersburg, Florida is proud to announce their historic packaging of their wildly popular Horse Soldier Bourbon; Horse Soldier Signature Bourbon is bottled in glass pressed from a mold created with steel from the World Trade Center.

This bourbon is distilled by the men who answered America’s call just days after 9/11 with a daring insertion by small teams of Green Berets mounted on horse back into northern Afghanistan. This brave and unconventional act earned them the moniker, the Horse Soldiers. The same men were featured in the movie 12 Strong, the CNN documentary Legion of Brothersand memorialized by the American Response Monument located at Ground Zero in New York City. Today they put their hearts and aspirations of a brighter future into this all American product.

It is only fitting that the bottle for Horse Soldier Signature Bourbon was forged in the USA at Anchor Glass in America’s heartland. Refusing to use non-American labor to save money, they created this piece of history alongside the US Steelworkers who understood the deep meaning it had to them and all Americans. Forged in fire, like these men, it is exclusively offered by the distributor Breakthru Beverage Group. Each bottle is a bit of history and a small memorial, which helps the charities they support.

Horse Soldier Signature Bourbon

The Horse Soldiers themselves handpicked every Signature barrel. They distilled it by hand in the Midwest and offer it only at an authentic 95-proof and at a barrel strength. Horse Solider Bourbon honors heritage, is handcrafted, and will hit shelves across Florida in time for Memorial Day, 2018 at major liquor retailers across the state. This exceptional spirit was originally released in November to incredible reviews and sold out while setting sales records for a new craft brand. There are neither additives nor artificial colors, just the wheat-forward expressions naturally provided by the New American Oak barrels it is aged in for more than five years.

Their story is a dream turned reality. This group of former special operations veterans traveled the world preparing for their new lives as distillers before creating the finest spirits possible using the unique recipes, skills and flavors of many of the regions they visited. You can truly taste the American dream in every single bottle of American Freedom Distillery spirits. We may never know the truth of other brands when you hear their stories, but this is authentic history.

“We make whiskey for ourselves and what we don’t drink, we sell.”
– The Team at American Freedom Distillery

You can visit American Freedom Distillery in St. Pete’s eclectic downtown Warehouse Arts District starting Summer 2018 and purchase their bourbons. Meet the warriors who work there and shake their hands. Feel good that a portion of their proceeds support the charities they embrace. The 16,000 square-foot distillery will feature America Neat Grill & Whiskey House, an upscale restaurant featuring a wood fired grill, daily distillery tours, an education center on the history of bourbon in America, a retail shop and tons of events and tastings on-premise yearly. The distillery is truly a must-see destination for local food and spirit lovers as well as the 30 million visitors who visit the Tampa Bay area each year.

Sobieski Vodka Launches New Bottle Design

By | Mixology News

Sobieski Vodka Launches New Bottle Design, featured image

Sobieski Vodka has launched a new bottle design that aims to reposition the brand as the perfect choice for those who do not want to pretend, who are seeking ‘real’ moments.

In determining the direction for Sobieski, brand owner Marie Brizard Wine & Spirits conducted consumer research across countries to find common threads of ‘what’s important’ in modern day life.

“What quickly became obvious is that young adults today feel very pressurized by the messages they are bombarded with from news and social media channels. What united them, wherever they came from, was the importance of moments with friends where they could be true to themselves and each other. Where they did not have to be something or someone they are not.” It is for those moments that the new look Sobieski is made—a truly authentic vodka for moments of truth.
– Nicolas Guillant, CEO

Sobieski Vodka Launches New Bottle Design, bottle on white

Sobieski Vodka New Bottle Design

The credentials behind the new look are Sobieski’s true and genuine origins—Distilled in Poland, 100% Polish Pure Rye vodka, named after Jan III Sobieski, true Polish heroe in the 17th century.

“There is no fairytale story or marketing hype about Sobieski; it’s simply top quality Rye vodka distilled in Poland. In a time when ‘truth’ seems hard to come by, when fake news is the new normal, when we feel it is risky to let down our guard, those moment with real friends when we can be true to ourselves are becoming incredibly important. Those precious times at home with friends we trust, enable us to recharge and return to our daily lives refreshed with positive vibes.”
– Nicolas Guillant

To deliver these messages, the new bottle is a dramatically simple monolithic shape, with an engraved synoptic along the base that graphically captures the essence of Jan III Sobieski’s life story. Central to the synoptic is the Lion—referring to his nickname ‘The Lion of Poland’—while other elements include his dates of birth and death, a mounted knight representing his bravery as a warrior, a quill to show his talent as a poet, a heart for his 30 year love affair with his wife Marie Casimir, a shield to resemble a constellation named after him, and an otter and lynx—animals which he domesticated during his reign.

The simplicity of the bottle shape and the elegant synoptic engraving are brought together by a bold and assertive logo: a strong red background with white lettering using a solid, confident type-face to push home the ‘honest, no-pretence’ message. A repeat of the brand synoptic in silver embellishes the top of the label.

Of course it is not just about the look, but the quality of the spirit. Distilled in Poland, Sobieski is a 100% pure rye Polish vodka with an authentic, rich taste and silky finish thanks to the high quality of the rye grain used in its production. It has seen continuous growth since its international launch in 2001 and has received many prestigious awards including a Double Gold Medal at the San Francisco World Spirits competition in 2016.

Before launching this new packaging, market research was conducted to validate acceptance with consumers. A quantitative methodology approach was chosen in order to insure a robust and accurate evaluation. Exceptional results were received, showing a strong uplift in overall liking, image, and purchase intent, amongst Sobieksi consumers and non consumers. This reinforces the growth potential of Sobieski in the US.

Sobieski was launched in the US in 2007 and was the fastest growing vodka to reach 1M cases within 4 years.

Today, Sobieski holds a strong position in the vodka market and is the #1 Rye Vodka in the US. The brand is distributed across the country and offers a wide range of sizes and flavors meeting today’s consumer needs.

The high quality of the brand is reflected in the numerous awards that it continues to receive annually in global competitions like the Double Gold at the San Francisco World Spirits Competition.

Moët Hennessy to donate time and resources to help feed nearly 1.3 million New Yorkers in 2018.

Moët Hennessy USA has announced a new partnership with City Harvest in which it will donate both time and resources to help the pioneering non-profit feed nearly 1.3 million New Yorkers this year. Moët Hennessy will be the exclusive wine and spirits company to partner with City Harvest.

To kick off the partnership and in celebration of National Volunteer Week, Moët Hennessy USA employees are participating today in City Harvest’s Repack on the Road volunteer drive to assemble 1,000 snack packs that serves 7,000 children in pre-school, Head Start and after school programs. This year, Moët Hennessy USA has committed to providing 200 volunteer hours by the end of the year to feed families in need.

Moët Hennessy will also serve as sponsor for all of City Harvest’s 2018 signature events, including the 35th Anniversary Gala on April 24 at Cipriani 42nd Street, honoring Chrissy Teigen, Robin Hood, Bill and Wendy Mills and José Andrés. Proceeds from the event will go to supporting City Harvest’s work of rescuing healthy food that would otherwise go to waste, and delivering it to low-income families and neighborhoods in New York City. This is City Harvest’s largest annual fundraising event, and last year, it raised nearly $2.7 million—enough to help feed over 9,800 families for a year.

“The Moët Hennessy USA team and I could not be more excited to partner with City Harvest. We are an organization that highly values our commitment to philanthropy, community and sustainability, which fully aligns with the mission of City Harvest whose Healthy Neighborhoods programs make it possible for us to make a difference.”
