Tullamore D.E.W. has welcomed the addition of two new Ambassadors to the U.S. Market—Gillian Murphy and Donna Stewart—who join National Ambassador, Tim Herlihy, as East and West Coast Ambassadors, respectively.

Gillian Murphy, residing in Chicago, will cover the East Coast market while Donna Stewart, residing in Los Angeles, will cover the West Coast. Together, the three lead a larger team comprised of 16 Ambassadors including local market representatives, thereby covering all corners of the U.S. and will share pours, cocktails and all things hospitality for Tullamore D.E.W.

Gillian Murphy

East Coast Ambassador Gillian Murphy will oversee the Eastern region of the U.S. including the Chicago and New York markets. Gillian hails from Cork, Ireland (the “real capital” as locals claim) and joined the trainee brand ambassador program with Tullamore D.E.W. after graduating from university in 2015. She went on to serve as the in-market Tullamore D.E.W. Trainee in South Florida before a stint in London working with William Grant in their Global Travel Retail department.

Donna Stewart

Born in Boston and raised in Dublin, West Coast Ambassador Donna Stewart will oversee the Western region of the U.S. including Los Angeles and San Francisco. Donna has held jobs in the hospitality and social media marketing industries for the past several years, developing early ambassador traits along the way. Always armed with a new bottle of Irish whiskey from her travels to Ireland, Donna passionately shares her discoveries with her fellow whiskey lovers and industry colleagues in L.A. and across the U.S.

“I’m looking forward to working alongside two highly qualified Ambassadors as we aim to spread the love of Tullamore D.E.W. across the country. They each have an expansive knowledge of the whiskey category and having both work together to cover all of our U.S. markets is wonderful asset for our brand.”
– Tim Herlihy, National Ambassador

Completing the robust team of 16 full time Ambassadors across the country, the new hires are a testament to Tullamore D.E.W.’s momentum—they join the #2 Irish whiskey brand globally in the fastest growing spirits category by volume, following a new distillery opening and visitor’s center unveil in 2014.

Black Infusions, LLC has announced the launch of Gold Apricot™, an artisanal, premium vodka infused with dried California apricots.

Following in the footsteps of its San Francisco World Spirits Competition award winning Black Fig®, Gold Apricot is a 100% natural, gluten-free spirit made with real fruit.

The same natural infusion process used for Black Fig is what produces Gold Apricot’s luminous, light golden hues, and is also what retains the authentic balance of the sweet and tangy tartness found in the fruit.

“At Black Infusions, our goal is to continue to produce all natural and versatile spirits that can be enjoyed on the rocks as well as in craft cocktails. In a short period of time, Black Fig has become a favorite among bartenders and bar chefs, who have created a range of innovative cocktails and reimagined classic drinks. Consumers enjoy the fresh, real taste of Black Fig and we know they’ll feel the same about Gold Apricot.”
– Michael Davidson, CEO of Black Infusions

The company’s two products, Black Fig and Gold Apricot, were created by Michael Davidson, CEO of Black Infusions and Boston-area entrepreneur. They were inspired by the old fashioned but effective method of steeping real fruit in neutral spirits made from corn.

Red Star Award National Distributor Conference 2018, featured image

Heineken USA has announced that Admiral Beverage Corp. of New Mexico was awarded the Red Star award for its efforts in driving the success of the Heineken USA portfolio in 2017.

The award was presented at the company’s annual National Distributor Conference, October 10-11, 2018 in Atlanta, GA.

The program is designed to honor the balanced efforts by distributors against the drivers of Heineken USA volume, distribution, and display execution. Distributors across the U.S. compete against peers of similar size and geography, and the award is given to the distributor partners who go above and beyond the average market results. Four Region Groups are divided into four Regional Tiers defined by total Heineken USA volume. A winner is selected in each Region, at each Tier, resulting in 16 Regional winners and one Overall winner.

Admiral Beverage has been among the top contenders for the award each year since 2014 and took home the top honor in 2017. The New Mexico distributor delivered stellar performance in partnership with the Heineken USA team to drive on- and off-premise distribution and off-premise displays. Admiral Beverage was honored for execution that crossed portfolio lines and results that exceeded industry standards. In a year where the industry was declining overall, the Red Star award winner grew the Heineken USA business +7% in 2017, led by Strongbow Cider +24%, Dos Equis Lager +11%, and Tecate +7%. Admiral Beverage combined best-in-class leadership, management, sales execution and a strong partnership with Heineken USA to deliver on all key metrics, including high-impact sponsorships that maximized brand awareness in the market.

“Each year, we present the Red Star award to honor a distributor partner who delivers the highest level of support to the performance of the Heineken USA portfolio. From brand-building investments to incremental work both on-and off-premise, our partners’ efforts are essential in driving success. In 2017 Admiral Beverage showed that consistency and commitment can lead to superior performance. The results for both parties have been tremendous.”
– Brian Citron, West Region VP at Heineken USA

Red Star Award National Distributor Conference 2018

“It’s an honor to be recognized by a partner like Heineken USA as the top distributor in the country, and even more fulfilling to receive the award following several years of falling just short of the top prize. Last year we said we’d come out on top and we delivered. We are helped in our efforts by the support we receive from Heineken USA with their great portfolio of products, consumer market insights and the teams who help us deliver against our goals.

2 Must Mix Cocktails from Bird & Bone Miami Beach

By | Mixology News

Smoke Show, featured image

The Confidante Miami Beach’s flagship restaurant, Bird & Bone, a Southern-inspired restaurant led by celebrated South Florida chef Richard Hales, has created two delicious cocktails to try. Give them a mix!

Southern Toast, bottle and cocktail on deck

Southern Toast

Southern Toast

Ingredients:

  • 2 oz Afrohead Rum
  • 1/4 oz. Simple Syrup
  • 3 dashes Angostura Bitters

Preparation: Stirred in tall glass, then poured into rinsed glass with Luxardo Liquer Maraschino, over large ice. Garnished with an orange peel and an Afrohead smoke stick.

The inspiration behind this cocktail was keeping true to a classic cocktail of the old fashioned however with our unique spin on it. We are utilizing Afrohead rum, to add a little Caribbean style into the cocktail. We are also adding the addition of a Rum Stick that has been toasted and smoked. This is something specifically made for Afrohead and now brought to Bird and Bone. The stick is made of wood, that is very rustic and true of our restaurant, and the toasted attributes adds another level of flavor to the cocktail.

Smoke Show, cocktail with garnish on wooden table

Smoke Show

Smoke Show

Ingredients:

  • 1 1/2 oz. Del Maguey Vida Mezcal
  • 1/2 oz. Aperol
  • 1 oz. Blood Orange Juice
  • 1/2 oz. Lime Juice
  • 1/4 oz. Simple Syrup

Preparation: Fill shaker tin with ice, then add ingredients. Shake well & strain into Coupe. Shaved orange rind for garnish.

As you can see, the smoke show is not actually a smoked drink. The smoke flavor comes from the Mezcal itself. The process begins with harvesting the agave plants, and extracting the heart of the agave. The hearts or Pinas are then cooked in oven pits, that roasting process creates and strong smoky flavor, thus the Smoke Show was created.
