Kevin Hart and Gran Coramino Tequila Have Big News for Bartenders!

By | Mixology News

Get ready for the event of the year! Kevin Hart’s Gran Coramino Tequila and Chilled Media are getting ready to unleash something epic in celebration of hardworking bartenders everywhere. It’s time to shake things up!

Gran Coramino Tequila, founded by legendary entertainer and reputed ‘hardest working man in Hollywood,’ Kevin Hart, along with Juan Domingo Beckmann, 11th generation tequila-maker whose family has been making tequila for over 250 years and is essentially revered for a history of innovation to the category and creating the world’s first Cristalino, have set their sights on today’s often-underappreciated nightlife bartenders.

Both are masters of their respective crafts and joined together by a shared love and passion for tequila with a relentless dedication to hard work and exceptionally high standards. Last year the duo introduced Gran Coramino Tequila, available in two expressions, a Reposado Cristalino and an Añejo. Gran Coramino Reposado Cristalino is matured in Eastern European oak barrels, finished in California Cabernet wine casks and slow-filtered for smooth flavor and crystal-clear color. Gran Coramino Añejo is matured in both American and French oak barrels for 12 months and then blended with Añejo reserves matured in ex-cognac casks – delivering the complexity of an aged tequila, with a sweet and smooth cognac finish.

Cristalino is a relatively new expression to the category and one that Hart and Beckmann felt was a perfect spirit for the brand’s launch. After all, the brand’s motto is “hard work tastes different.” These two powerhouse individuals, together, are a partnership that can make an everlasting impact and build a legacy in the industry.

As powerful forces sharing a common vision to accomplish great things, the Gran Coramino team and Kevin Hart are inspired by today’s nightlife bartenders for their hard work and commitment, often spending long and thankless hours behind the bar. Their unique talent, skill, and energy are qualities that Hart appreciates and enjoys celebrating.

In celebration of nightlife bartenders, Kevin and Gran Coramino Tequila are on a mission to shine a light on these unsung heroes! Prepare for an event you won’t want to miss!

More coming soon! Can’t wait? Click here!

Must Mix King Charles Cocktail

By | Mixology News

This historical cocktail made with premium gin and classic ingredients, aptly named the King Charles Cocktail, is set to charm bartenders and home cocktail enthusiasts around the world.

Created by Highclere Castle Gin and taste tested by top chefs and mixologists, this innovative yet deceptively simple cocktail combines gin and Scotch, rarely seen together, but two quintessentially British spirits known to be favorites of His Majesty The King.

The King Charles cocktail showcases Highclere Castle Gin, a premium London dry gin made with a blend of botanicals from Highclere Castle’s famous estate. The single malt Scotch whisky lends a subtle smoky flavor that imparts sophistication and depth of character. The aromatic notes of freshly squeezed lemon juice added with the sweet taste of the orange curacao complement the Highclere Castle Gin and whisky pairing, creating decadent sophistication in a glass worthy of a coronation.

“The coronation is an extraordinary recognition of continuity. It is a wonderful idea to enjoy and share the King Charles Cocktail to celebrate His Majesty and lift our spirits,” says the Earl of Carnarvon, owner of Highclere Castle.

Highclere Castle Gin has selected the Queen’s Commonwealth Trust (QCT) as the company’s official charity beneficiary. With her patronage, the QCT was launched in 2018 on Queen Elizabeth II’s 92nd birthday. The charity is focused on supporting social entrepreneurs. For the month of May, participating restaurants featuring the King Charles Cocktail will donate $1 per cocktail served to the Queen’s Commonwealth Trust, with proceeds benefiting young leaders and innovation.

“The King Charles Cocktail is a unique yet powerfully appropriate cocktail we are releasing with some of the finest restaurants and hotels worldwide. My vision was to design a cocktail, hoping that someday it might be considered a classic for people to enjoy and associate with this special moment in history. It is the ultimate toast to His Majesty’s lifetime commitment and service throughout the United Kingdom, the Commonwealth, and on the world stage, and my god, it tastes good,” said Adam von Gootkin, Co-founder, and CEO of Highclere Castle Gin.

The King Charles Cocktail Recipe

  • 2 oz Highclere Castle Gin
  • 1/4 oz Macallan 12 or Single Malt Scotch
  • 1/2 oz Orange Curacao
  • 1/2 oz Fresh Lemon Juice

Preparation: Shake well in cocktail shaker, strain into cocktail coupe. Garnish with a fresh rosemary sprig.

5 Essential Cocktails for May 2023

By | Mixology News

Each month Chilled presents you with five essential cocktails based on our National Drink Day Calendar. Don’t forget to reference it so you can prepare for the upcoming holidays.

If you are lacking in the cocktail inspiration department, you’ve come to the right place. These five essential cocktails for May will help brighten and liven up your bar menu. We are on the cusp of summer, which means people are heading out for happy hours, brunch on the weekends, and sitting on patios for cocktails. There’s no better time to add a drink special to your menu based around one of these National Drink Days.

Get ready for the warm weather and sip on one of these five essential cocktails for May.

Watermelon Basil Margarita

Cinco de Mayo will bring crowds ready to sip on a Mexican spirit. There isn’t anything that screams summer more than watermelon. This watermelon and basil margarita is the perfect balance of herbaceous and sweet. The addition of fresh lime is the cherry on top. This cocktail will definitely be a hit.

Honey-Kissed Cosmopolitan

Instead of serving the classic cocktail on National Cosmopolitan Day (5/7), opt for this riff. While the traditional Cosmopolitan has citron vodka, this version uses grapefruit vodka for an added depth of flavor. Mixed with sweet notes of farm-fresh honey and muddled rosemary, you’re left with a perfectly balanced drink on all fronts.

Spritz Tzu

Treat the mother in your life on Mother’s Day (5/14) with an easy-to-mix spring cocktail. It contains all ingredients that you’ll find behind any bar—a dry white wine, elderflower liqueur, club soda, and a lemon twist. It’s light and refreshing, making it a great Mother’s Day brunch addition.

Mimosa Lopez

Did someone say brunch? Brunch is a must in the spring, so you’ll need a mimosa on your menu for National Mimosa Day (5/16). Instead of offering just the classic champagne and OJ, try this tropical riff. Another option where the ingredients are most likely behind the bar—the
Mimosa Lopez mixes champagne with cream of coconut for a perfect mix of creamy, boozy, and tropical in every sip.

Whiskey Smash

Although dark spirits get often categorized as winter drinks, World Whisk(e)y Day falls on the third Saturday of May every year. This year, celebrate the spirit on May 19 with a Whiskey Smash. It’s sweet enough that non-whiskey drinkers will enjoy it but strong enough that whiskey connoisseurs will love it. The added freshness from the mint takes this to the next level.

Bob Dylan’s Heaven’s Door Spirits to Open Distillery and Unique Bourbon Experience in Kentucky

By | Mixology News

Located on over 160 acres of rolling hills astride Six Mile Creek, the picturesque property in Pleasureville, Kentucky was once owned by Squire Boone, the brother of legendary frontiersman Daniel Boone. Quietly under development since 2017, this newest Heaven’s Door Distillery location has been producing small batches of exceptional bourbon on its custom Vendome still since 2018.

The Distillery features two separate stillhouses, each in its own towering western horse barn, a Visitor’s Center with tasting rooms and lounges overlooking the valley and Six Mile Creek, an eighteenth-century grist mill, two eighteenth-century cabins and a Moravian barn, all of which have been painstakingly restored. Heaven’s Door Distillery plans to open its doors to the public in September 2023.

“This is a momentous occasion for Heaven’s Door,” said Marc Bushala, co-founder and CEO of Heaven’s Door Spirits. “We selected this location for its remarkable natural beauty and unique ecosystem that has enabled us to make exceptional bourbon and create an unrivaled visitor experience,” adds Bushala. “We are committed to the art of craft whiskey and honor the legacy of the many pioneers who have helped make Kentucky bourbon what it is today. We are thrilled to have Heaven’s Door be part of this storied tradition.”

John Logan Brent, Executive Judge for Henry County, shares, “There is no better place on Earth for the Heaven’s Door Distillery than Pleasureville, Kentucky. The entire project was thoughtfully designed, respecting the terrain, and supporting the local community. It has been a pleasure to watch this vision unfold over the past five years.”

Ken Pierce, an industry veteran, was brought on as Master Distiller to lead the project from design through distillation. Ken began his illustrious career with Barton Brands Distillery, initially working as Senior Chemist to Director of Distillation and eventually becoming Master Distiller. Ken was instrumental in the development of 1792 Small Batch Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey and its limited release expressions.

“I was honored to be chosen as Master Distiller for the Pleasureville project,” said Pierce, “The Heaven’s Door Distillery has been an incredible project, from inception to production of our first barrels. For me, this is a living legacy of my 40 years in the industry and my passion for making great whiskey.”

Heaven’s Door is proud to lead the way in sustainable distilling, utilizing two underground aquifers to access pristine limestone water for its distilling as well as geothermal heating and cooling of the buildings. Through its dedication to sustainable practices, the distillery cultivates its own heirloom grains and recycles protein-rich mash from the fermentation process as feed for cattle on surrounding farms.

The project will help drive economic growth and opportunities in the county by creating more than 50 jobs and bringing tourism to the area. The distillery also plans to work with local farmers to source ingredients for its spirits, further strengthening its ties to the community.

Heaven’s Door Brand Experience on Urban Bourbon Trail

In addition to its Pleasureville distillery, Heaven’s Door has announced it will open a unique brand experience in a former church in Downtown Louisville. The brand experience will house a small live music venue, a private event space and a restaurant and bar featuring one of the largest selections of American whiskeys in the country.

The Heaven’s Door brand center includes plans to construct a new 15,000 square foot immersive art experience adjacent to the church which will feature a collection of Bob Dylan’s critically acclaimed paintings and metalworks, as well as curated exhibitions of other artists.

The Company had previously announced that it intended to open a showcase distillery and brand center in a 160-year-old church in Nashville, Tennessee, which it acquired in 2016. “With our distillery opening in Pleasureville, KY, having our brand experience in Louisville made more sense,” said Bushala. “We will use the Nashville property as the seat of The Heaven’s Door Foundation, the Company’s philanthropic arm which supports charities for the arts.”
